Security Measures for Local Clinics: The Peruvian Ministry of Health (MINSA) requires that all Peruvian private clinics establish infection-control measures for their facilities. This applies both to patients and accompanying visitors. Some general measures are included below. The U.S. Embassy recommends calling the medical office or clinic prior to arrival to confirm any special rules or restrictions.
- High-risk individuals such as children and elderly adults SHOULD NOT visit healthcare clinics unless they are being seen as patients.
- Facemasks should be worn at all times.
- Patients and visitors may be assessed for COVID-19 symptoms prior to entering clinics.
- Payment restrictions may apply, including special rules about the use of cash or credit cards.
- Certain specialties now offer telemedicine for consultations instead of in-person visits.
Reduction of Email Alerts: Beginning today, U.S. Embassy email alerts and notifications will be reduced to a Monday-through-Friday schedule unless we have important new information that cannot wait until the next business day. We will continue to post any alerts and important information on our website and social media platforms.
