Event: The U.S. Embassy continues to seek options for U.S. citizens who wish to depart Peru. Commercial airline Eastern Airlines is offering private charter flights from Lima, Peru, to Miami, Florida. The first flight on Thursday, April 16 has been fully booked. The airline has opened a second flight on April 18, and is looking to schedule possible additional flights for April 20 and April 21.
We recognize that the price of these flights is higher than the pre-COVID-19 market price. All repatriation flights (U.S. government or private) incur significant costs. If you cannot afford this price, you are eligible to apply for a U.S. Embassy emergency repatriation loan that you will need to repay after returning to the United States. To apply, please complete the Repatriation Assistance Loan Application and then scan and e-mail it to PeruRepatriations@state.gov .
For information on entering the United States or questions and concerns about current restrictions, please monitor updates from the Department of Homeland Security on Twitter and at https://www.dhs.gov. Currently, there are no new specific limitations on travelers returning from Peru.
We urge U.S. citizens who wish to return to the United States to take advantage of all viable flight options. If you cannot board an upcoming flight, be prepared to remain in Peru until the government of Peru ends nationwide restrictions under the 90-day State of Emergency to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The U.S. government has appreciated your feedback as we continue to work hard to bring #AmericansHome.
