Location: Peru (countrywide)
Event: Today, 240 Americans departed Peru on Eastern Airlines flight 340 to Miami. Another 160 Americans departed on LATAM flight 2536 organized by Solange Reps, bringing the total number of repatriations to approximately 8,100. The U.S. Embassy is proactively coordinating with the Peruvian government and multiple airlines to identify viable options for U.S. citizens to return to the United States while the main commercial airport remains closed. We will continue to send regular updates and share pertinent information as it becomes available.
Future Flights: We remind all U.S. citizens that after today, April 21, the government of Peru is restricting repatriation flights and will review on a case-by-case basis emergency flight requests only. Peruvian Government quarantine measures are through April 26 and may be extended beyond that date. We are aware that certain commercial airlines are advertising flights from Peru to the United States for the month of May. Please note that, at this time, the U.S. Embassy has received no credible indication that the Peruvian government will authorize commercial flights in the foreseeable future, as Peru’s borders and commercial airports across Peru remain closed.
Reduction of Daily Messages: Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, April 22, the Embassy will publish only one daily afternoon email alert to those registered with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). You can find additional information on our COVID-19 website (https://pe.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information) and ACS Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/AmericanCitizenServicesLima).
Repatriation Registration Form: The U.S. Embassy is committed to repatriating all U.S. citizens who express a desire to return to the United States. To ensure that we are aware of your interest in repatriation, and only if you have not already done so, please register at https://bit.ly/3bx5ons. DO NOT register multiple times. Rather, make sure a form has been submitted for each family member, including children. Please provide complete and correct contact information (local and/or U.S. cell phone and email) so that we may reach you.
Our team continues to explore viable new options to bring #AmericansHome.
