Alert: Quarantine Measures, Peru (April 5, 2020)
8 MINUTE READ
April 5, 2020

Location: Peru (countrywide)

Event: We secured Government of Peru flight authorizations through tomorrow, Monday, April 6. There are no scheduled flights on Tuesday, April 7, but we are coordinating on flights for later in the week.  Buses from Arequipa and Tacna are currently en route to Lima.  Buses will also pick up U.S. citizens in the Ica region tomorrow. We are aware that hundreds of U.S. Citizens remain in Lima and other regions of Peru. We have not forgotten you, and we are exploring every option to get you home to the United States.

General Reminders:

All confirmed passengers receive a flight confirmation email with a linked transit letter. Travelers should print and use this letter while traveling to the designated flight meeting point.  If you cannot print this letter, please have it available on your phone or other electronic device. It is your responsibility to get to the meeting location on time. Be prepared to travel on short notice.

If you have completed our flight registration form, we have your information and will contact you once you are scheduled on a flight home. We continue to prioritize the repatriation of Americans with underlying health conditions, Americans over the age of 60, and unaccompanied minors.

Only confirmed passengers should travel to the U.S. Embassy. The standby process is reserved for exceptional circumstances, such as minor children who did not receive a flight confirmation to travel with their parent(s).

Peruvian security forces are strictly enforcing Sunday quarantine movement restrictions. All businesses are closed, and transportation options are limited today. Limited taxi service is running in some cities in Peru.

We encourage everyone to comply with the Peruvian Government’s quarantine measures and to follow the instructions of Peruvian authorities.  Limit your time outside and carry your identification, phone, and face mask if you go outside. For more information on Peru’s national quarantine, check out the embassy’s COVID-19 page.

We are working hard to bring #AmericansHome.
