Event:  Peru’s national state of emergency and quarantine measures are extended through Sunday, May 24.  Mandatory nightly curfew hours in Lima, and much of the country, begin at 8:00 pm and end at 4:00 am.  Curfew hours in the regions of La Libertad, Lambayeque,  Loreto, Piura, and Tumbes remain 4:00 pm – 4:00 am.  The all-day Sunday curfew will continue throughout Peru during the extended state of emergency period.  Limit your time outside, carry your identification and phone, and remember that the use of a facemask is required in public.  The use of gloves and facemasks are now required in all grocery stores, food markets, and banks.  Beginning on Monday, May 18, children under 14 years of age, who are not presenting COVID-19 symptoms, will be allowed to leave their residence with an adult for a daily 30-minute walk.  They must stay within 500 meters of their residence and comply with all other health norms (maintain social distance and wear a facemask).  We encourage all U.S. citizens in Peru to comply with the Peruvian government’s quarantine measures and to follow the instructions of Peruvian authorities.
