Event: Today, approximately 200 Americans departed Peru to the United States on Eastern Airlines flight 340, bringing the total number of repatriations to more than 8800.  The Embassy brought U.S. citizens from their quarantine locations on U.S. government flights out of Arequipa, Pucallpa and Tarapoto to Lima for today’s flight.

Immigration and Passport Exit Stamps: The Peruvian government issued a decree on April 3 automatically extending the legal stay for all foreigners in country until the state of emergency is over.  Once the quarantine is lifted, all international tourists will have 45 days to leave the country.  Currently, Peruvian Immigration is not processing visa extensions or charging fines for those who overstayed their visa as a result of the COVID-19 quarantine measures.  If your passport has already been stamped with an exit stamp, immigration officials are on-site at the Peruvian Air Force Airbase in Callao (outside Lima) to help answer specific questions and address concerns.

For U.S. citizens that remain in Peru, please visit the U.S. Embassy’s COVID-19 Webpage for more information on access to hospitals, pharmacies, grocery deliveries, and other services in Peru.

Our team continues its dedicated effort to bring  #AmericansHome.
