Ambassador Urs swears in 43 new Peace Corps Volunteers

Ambassador Krishna R. Urs swore in 43 new Peace Corps Volunteers, who will live and work for the next two years in Peru and work on community development projects.

The new group will be part of the almost 170 Peace Corps volunteers who work in ten Peruvian regions, and will be assigned to the regions of Amazonas, Áncash, Cajamarca, Junín, La Libertad, and Pasco.

The new volunteers will dedicate two years of work to support vulnerable populations in rural and semi-urban areas, to promote social inclusion through technical programs for youth development and community health.

Members of the Peruvian families from Chaclacayo and Chosica who hosted the volunteers during their 12 weeks of training, as well as representatives of the agencies with whom the volunteers will work, participated in the ceremony at the Chaclacayo Peace Corps headquarters.
