ANPPERÚ and the Embassy of the United States seek to promote Inclusion through Sport

HUANCAYO AND LIMA WILL BE HEADQUARTERS OF PROMOTING MEETING FOR SPORT FOR ATHLETES WITH DISABILITIES

Thanks to the Office of Sports Diplomacy of the United States Department of State, Paralympic athletes, Lacey Henderson and Luis Puertas, will arrive in Peru from Denver, Colorado and Orlando, Florida to participate in the program called “The Power of Sport to promote the social inclusion of people with disabilities.

“Addressing the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in Peru is of vital importance. Our guests Lacey and Luis will arrive to promote the inclusion and equality of people with disabilities, especially women and girls, in sports”, said Ed Cox, Public Diplomacy Officer of the Embassy of the United States.

“Huancayo and Lima will host a sports meeting that will allow the sharing of successful experiences that encourage children, youth and adults with disabilities to actively participate, motivating them to practice the sport of their choice,” said Luisa Villar, president of ANPPERU .

Throughout five days, various activities and four thematic tables will be carried out with the participation of important public-private organizations, among which the Regional Government of Junín, the Provincial Municipality of Huancayo, the Peruvian Sports Institute, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women – CONADIS – INABIF, officials from the Municipalities of Lima, Miraflores, San Luis, Surco, Chorrillos, San Borja, Magdalena del Mar, Presidents of Federations and the Peruvian Olympic Committee, among others.

The results of these meetings will be reflected in a sustained action plan to be developed in the medium and long term.

Complementing these meetings for reflection, analysis and decision-making, there will also be sports festivals that will allow Peruvian and American athletes to address the public to offer their testimony about the opportunities that sport offers to eradicate discrimination and stigma.
