Celebrations for the 247th anniversary of the U.S. independence and the Afro-Peruvian month
The visually impaired singers Lachi (United States) and Gisselli Ramírez (Peru), together with the percussion ensemble from the special education program “Sinfonía por el Perú”, will offer a free concert on June 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Place of Memory, Tolerance and Social Inclusion (LUM), in Miraflores.
The activity is organized by the U.S. Embassy in Peru, the LUM and the Bent But Not Broken Organization, with a special collaboration of Chio Lecca Fashion School, promoting a message in support of the diversity and inclusion of people with disabilities.
Lachi is an African American artist and a community leader who has dedicated her career to help raise disability awareness, promoting inclusion, and advocating for accessibility.
Gisselli Ramirez is a visually impaired artist who has been singing since she was six years old and who stood out in the La Voz Perú contest in 2021 as part of Eva Ayllón’s team.
The Percussion Ensemble of the special education program “Sinfonía por el Perú” provides learning and inclusion opportunities to the population with special educational needs using music as a tool to promote and strengthen self-esteem, confidence, respect, solidarity, and l integral development.
Lachi will be presented with an author’s design dress, hand-painted and with raised textures. The wardrobe is a special design by Chio Lecca Fashion School whose purpose is to support inclusion also in the world of fashion, holding an exhibition of fashion designer suits, with a cultural and ancestral identity and support for Chio Leca’s entrepreneurs. The paintings of the florists from Tarma in the department of Junín were taken as inspiration for Lachi’s dress, showing the art of this region is characterized by a wide range of bright colors and landscapes full of magic.
