The Panamerican Highway is currently blocked by protestors at KM 261, 271, 290, and 299 near Ica and Paracas.  Demonstrations by protestors supporting immediate elections are in progress along this route, and in the cities of Arequipa, Cajamarca, and Ica.  Additional locations throughout Peru may be affected.  Monitor news sources to stay informed of any changes.

Actions to take:

• Avoid ​crowds.
• Keep your phone charged, and carry an ID.
• Comply with instructions from the Peruvian National Police and local authorities.
• Register in STEP to receive alerts and messaging from the U.S. Embassy in Lima.
