Event:

A 24-hour strike is expected to affect the Puno region on May 31.  Roadblocks are expected to disrupt travel within the region and the city of Puno.  Inca Manco Capac International Airport in Juliaca is scheduled to remain open.  The following routes will be affected by roadblocks:

Juliaca – Cusco:

• km 1220, Vilapata, Ayaviri district.
• km 1216, Puente Cahuasiri, Ayaviri district.

Juliaca – Puerto Maldonado

• km 40 Óvalo Azángaro, Asillo district.

Juliaca – Huancané:

• Vilquechico, Cojata, Rosaspata districts and Moho Province.

Puno – Desaguadero:

• km 1410 – 1414, Puente Internacional, Ilave district.

Actions to take:

• Avoid crowds and demonstrations.
• Avoid demonstrations.
• Do not interfere or attempt to circumvent roadblocks
• Monitor local media for updates.
• Follow traffic police instructions.
• Comply with instructions from the Peruvian National Police and local authorities.
• Enroll in STEP to receive alerts and messaging from the U.S. Embassy in Lima.
