Fotos por el Cambio

Fotos por el Cambio (Photos for Change) is a photography workshop organized by the Embassy of the United States in Peru with the objective of raising awareness about issues of social interest through photography. Each year the workshop addresses a different theme.

The theme of the 2016 workshop focused on the lives of Peruvian entrepreneurs, as well as the story of their endeavors, challenges and achievements.

Many of the participants had links to WEConnect, a global network connecting women-led companies with buyers from around the world and whose sponsor, among others, is the US State Department. Others were part of alternative development projects created by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

More than 50 emerging photographers were selected to participate in the program. Since May, the Fotos por el Cambio workshops have taken place in four Peruvian cities: Arequipa, Tarapoto, Chiclayo, and Lima.

Danielle Villasana, an American freelance photojournalist and graduate from the University of Texas at Austin, taught the workshop. Danielle won the Magnum Foundation Inge Morath Award and was considered Getty’s emerging talent.
