Fulbright announces Postgraduate Scholarships for Afro-Peruvian and Disabled students

The United States government through the Peru Fulbright Commission announced its 2022 postgraduate scholarships, which are aimed at Peruvian professional leaders with academic excellence and a potential to contribute to the development of the country. In order to give greater opportunities to underrepresented communities , Fulbright includes the “Victoria Santa Cruz” scholarship for leaders of the Afro-Peruvian community and the “Disability and Leadership” scholarship for leaders with disabilities.

The scholarships include among other expenses:

  • One-way travel from the participant’s city of origin to the United States.
  • Room, board and transportation stipend for a maximum of 21 months.
  • Intensive English studies in the United States for up to one year for participants of the Victoria Santa Cruz and Disability and Leadership scholarships.

The Victoria Santa Cruz scholarship is in honor of the great career of the Afro-Peruvian academic and researcher Victoria Santa Cruz and celebrates 100 years since her birth.

The Disability and Leadership scholarship will also grant a one-time payment of $10,000, if the recipient has a disability requiring a companion.
