SCHOLARSHIP IS AIMED AT LEADERS OF THE AFRO-PERUVIAN COMMUNITY WITH ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
The United States government, through the Peru Fulbright Commission, announced its 2023 “Victoria Santa Cruz” postgraduate scholarship, which is aimed at leaders of the Afro-Peruvian community with academic excellence and potential to contribute to the development of the country.
The scholarship includes among other expenses:
· One-way travel from the participant’s city of origin to the United States.
· Room, board, and transportation stipend for up to 21 months.
· Intensive English studies in the United States for up to 1 year.
This Fulbright scholarship was launched for the first time in March of this year, in celebration of 100 years since the birth of Victoria Santa Cruz. The selected Peruvian was Brenda Carpio, also known as “Yanna”, who is an independent artist, rapper, dancer, music producer and activist committed to the fight against racism.
Due to the success of this first call, the Embassy of the United States and the Fulbright Commission Peru launched this postgraduate scholarship for the year 2023, with the special participation of the Representative for Equity and Racial Justice of the United States Department of State Desirée Cormier – Smith, who is in Lima to participate in the OAS General Assembly.
The scholarship application dates will be announced shortly by the Fulbright Commission through its social networks, Facebook @fulbrightperu and Instagram @comisionfulbrightperu.
