Diphtheria cases reported: The Peruvian Ministry of Health has reported new cases of the respiratory disease diphtheria in the districts of La Victoria and San Martin de Porres, Lima. Travelers to Peru should be up-to-date on all vaccinations recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, including routine childhood immunizations such as diphtheria. If you are already in Peru and need to be vaccinated against diphtheria, please work with your health provider or contact a health facility in your area. The Embassy is not authorized to provide a physician or medical facilities to treat the general public. However, for your convenience, we have a list of medical resources in Peru on our website.
