Event: Government of Peru Announces Updates to Movement Restrictions
On March 24, 2021, the Government of Peru announced modifications to the existing regional alert levels and movement restrictions effective March 29 to April 11, 2021, in addition to the previously announced Semana Santa restrictions from April 1 to April 4.
The Government of Peru announced 19 provinces are in the Extreme alert level, 163 provinces are in the Very High alert level, and 14 provinces are in the High alert level. No areas are currently in the Moderate alert level. For the complete list of departments and provinces and their respective alerts, please see the detailed list below.
Extreme: Andahuaylas (Apurímac), Huaylas (Áncash), Huamanga (Ayacucho), Cusco (Cusco), Ica (Ica), Chupaca (Junín), Chanchamayo (Junín), Trujillo (La Libertad), Pacasmayo (La Libertad), Barranca (Lima), Huaura (Lima), Huarochirí (Lima), Alto Amazonas (Loreto), Tambopata (Madre de Dios), Piura (Piura), Puno (Puno), Moyobamba (San Martín), Tumbes (Tumbes), Cornel Portillo (Ucayali)
Major provisions of the Extreme level include:
- Curfew from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. daily.
- Private vehicles are prohibited on Sundays.
- Walking, biking, and taking public transportation and taxis is allowed during the day or with a work permission (“pase laboral” in Spanish).
- Many public spaces, including cinemas, places of worship, casinos, gyms, and clubs, are closed. Other spaces including shopping centers, banks, supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, some tourist areas, and salons operate at reduced occupancy. Delivery is allowed.
- Interprovincial air and land travel operates at 50% to 100% occupancy.

- Delivery is allowed.
- Beaches are open.
- Interprovincial air and land travel providers operate without restrictions.

Actions to Take:
- Always wear your mask outside, wash hands frequently, and carry a photo ID. Face mask are required by Peruvian law and you may be fined if you do not wear one.
