Event: Government of Peru Announces Updates to Movement Restrictions
On March 13, 2021, the Government of Peru announced modifications to the existing State of Emergency, regional alert levels, and movement restrictions effective March 15 to March 28, 2021.
The Department of Lima has been moved from “Extreme” to “Very High” alert, but the Lima provinces of Barranca, Huaral, Huaura, and the Constitutional Province of Callao remain in “Extreme” alert. No areas are currently in the “Moderate” alert level. For the complete list of departments and provinces and their respective alerts, please see the detailed list below.
Extreme: Áncash (Huaraz, Casma), Apurimac (Abancay), Arequipa (Caylloma), Ayacucho (Huamanga, Cangallo, La Mar), Cajamarca (Cajamarca, Cajabamba), Callao (Callao), Cusco (Cusco, La Convención), Ica (Chincha, Pisco), Junín (Chanchamayo, Jauja, Chupaca), La Libertad (Trujillo), Lambayeque (Lambayeque), Lima (Barranca, Huaral, Huaura), Loreto (Maynas), Madre de Dios (Tambopata), Moquegua (Mariscal Nieto), Tacna (Tacna), Ucayali (Coronel Portillo)
Major provisions of the Extreme level include:
- Curfew from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. daily.
- Private vehicles are prohibited on Sundays.
- Many public spaces, including cinemas, places of worship, casinos, gyms, and clubs, are closed. Other spaces including shopping centers, banks, supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, some tourist areas, and salons operate at reduced capacity. Delivery is allowed.
- Interprovincial air and land travel operates at 50% to 100% occupancy.

High: Huánuco and Piura
Major provisions of the High level include:
- Curfew from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. daily.
- Private vehicles are prohibited on Sundays.
- Public spaces including shopping centers, cinemas, tourist areas, places of worship, casinos, gyms, and clubs operate at reduced capacity. Delivery is allowed.
- Beaches are open.
- Interprovincial air and land travel providers operate without restrictions.

Additionally, certain flight restrictions changed per this Supreme Decree:
- The 14-day quarantine required upon entry to Peru may be lifted under certain conditions.
- Passengers arriving to Peru on international flights still must show a negative PCR test taken less than 72 hours before arrival in Peru. This testing requirement continues to apply to all arriving passengers regardless of vaccination status.
- Most flights greater than eight hours will resume.
- Non-resident foreign passengers from Brazil, South Africa, and/or the United Kingdom will not be allowed to enter Peru during the listed dates. Transit passengers are included in this restriction.
- A negative test is no longer required for domestic flights.
Actions to Take:
- Always wear your mask outside, wash hands frequently, and carry a photo ID. Face mask are required by Peruvian law and you may be fined if you do not wear one.
- Check with your airline, lodging, and tour provider to verify their current rules and procedures.
