Interested in Being a Diplomat? Take the Foreign Service Officer Test

The next opportunity to join the Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer (diplomat) will be in October 2017! The computer-based Foreign Service Officer exam will be offered in Lima on the afternoon of Monday, October 2, 2017 and the morning of Wednesday, October 4, 2017.

For detailed information on pursuing a career in the Foreign Service, to learn about what career track might be right for you, and to explore in detail the steps of the Foreign Service hiring process, please go to http://careers.state.gov/work/foreign-service/officer/test-process.

If you decide that the Foreign Service is the right life for you, you must first take the computer-based Foreign Service Officer Test (FSOT). In order to register for the FSOT in Lima, please register for the FSOT at http://www.pearsonvue.com/fsot. You will receive an on-screen confirmation message after you submit completed eligibility verification and application forms, and a second confirmation message after you select a seat. You will also receive an e-mail from Pearson VUE, which includes details about your testing appointment, ID requirements, and directions to the testing center.
The Test registration window opens on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 and closes on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.

Please do not delay in registering and scheduling your test seat! We will only have 4 seats available on each date. If the test seats are all filled, you will have to take the exam next time it is offered. The test is currently offered three times a year, both within the U.S. and at certain locations overseas.
