The United States Ambassador to Peru, Lisa Kenna, announced 300 new scholarships for women entrepreneurs through the “Academy of Women Entrepreneurs” (AWE) program, during her participation in the “Bicentennial Ecosystem” event organized by the Universidad del Pacífico and as part of the celebrations for the International Day of Women Entrepreneurs, which is celebrated today, November 19.

The AWE program provides basic tools for people interested in developing or improving their business. The course is delivered through the online platform “DreamBuilder” created by Arizona State University, with the support of the FreePort-McMoRan mining company, and is complemented by mentoring sessions and talks by local business experts.

To date, thousands of women entrepreneurs in more than 60 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Asia have been successfully trained and generating business networks with this program.

Since 2019, AWE Peru has been training more than 240 women entrepreneurs in the regions of Cajamarca, Cusco, Lambayeque, Lima, Madre de Dios, and the Valley of the Apurímac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM).

The third edition of AWE will be offered in a hybrid format to women entrepreneurs living in Peru and will be implemented by the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Universidad del Pacífico (Emprende UP).
