Event: The U.S. Embassy in Lima received reports from Peruvian authorities regarding a strike in Cusco on Thursday, May 24. The strike is against the rising cost of fuel and gasoline. The Federación Departamental de Trabajadores (FDTC) and other transportation unions are expected to take part. While local authorities are negotiating with protestors, traffic, including buses, cars, and trucks, could experience disruptions. In addition, Peru Rail will divert all train service from Poroy station to Ollantaytambo station during this time. Inca rail will likely take the same action.
